-Eggs for Granola
It is a delight this week to be connected to two especially hopeful events that celebrate the many businesses and groups creating a socially just and sustainable economy all around us. Below we write about our participation in the Neighborhood Development Center's annual awards banquet last weekend, and our preparations for the 11th Living Green Expo this coming weekend, May 5 and 6 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds (hope to see you there!)
Small Business - Big Impact
We were honored to be one of 14 finalists at the Neighborhood Development Center's annual award's banquet on April 28. Sitting up on stage with the other impressive entrepreneurs was humbling. It was a fun night of multi-cultural entertainment, heart warming tributes, and celebration of the great work that is happening throughout the Twin Cities by so many small businesses. You can read about all of the amazing winners and finalists on the NDC's website. We share a few photos of our family's fun night out through Facebook.
11 Years of Living Green
This coming weekend, Saturday May 5 and Sunday May 6, you will once again find us at the Living Green Expo along with 200 other green vendors sharing the latest information, products and technology in numerous facets of sustainable living -- everything from food and farming, energy, transportation, arts and culture, homes and gardens and more. (Look for us in the 4-H building aisle C.) New this year -- a small admission fee -- $3 online or $5 at the door. Kids 18 and under are free.
This year, we're pleased to be sharing our space with Dave Robinson, a friend of ours who has written the book The Poised Century: On Living Today as if Tomorrow Mattered. He'll be on hand to sell and sign copies of his book at the Expo or you can buy it online.
Lastly, because of our participation in the Green Expo this year, we were pleased to be featured in a small segment on KARE11 News just before Earth Day. It is a joy through all of these experiences to find ourselves in such good company!
Eggs for Granola
Finally, just for fun (and because the recipes are so wonderful!), we share a link to the blog of a choir director/food writer friend of ours, Alyce Morgan, who wrote about our recent trade of eggs from our backyard chickens for her yummy granola and cookies. Check it out at More Time at the Table.
