-Lunar Eclipse
-Photos for your computer desktop

Did you have a chance to see the lunar eclipse on Feb 20? With a clear night sky here in St. Paul and a reason to be outside anyway on that frigid night, we watched amazed as the earth's shadow slowly ate away at the bright full moon. The celestial event reminded Guillermo of eclipses in Honduras.

One time, during a solar eclipse, he helped the family bring all of the animals inside -- cows, horses, dogs, etc. inside the house -- to keep them from becoming blind if they looked at the sun! Just last summer, when a pregnant dog on the farm died after a lunar eclipse, the blame was placed on the eclipse which is believed to be especially dangerous to pregnant women and animals. Interestingly enough, NPR Science Friday the day of the lunar eclipse here, had a caller from Mexico talk about the same "superstition" and shared that his mother when she was pregnant needed wear a belt of keys to stay safe during an eclipse.

Be assured, we're not afraid to venture out -- eclipse or no eclipse -- and we'll be out and about doing our March deliveries and mail orders this coming weekend.

Photos for Your Computer Desktop
Are you looking for a new photo for your computer at home or work? We've added to our website gallery a few of our favorite photos from the coffee farm and a few new photos we just received from Phil Grisez who visited the Velasquez Family farm in January. He and Jane Flannigan attend Most Holy Trinity Church in St. Louis Park and are part of a mission team that supports an orphage in Honduras. They have been selling our coffee as a fundraiser for the mission project and wanted to see the farm for themselves. They must have enjoyed themselves as they are planning to bring a group of about 20 from their church to the farm again in July!

The photos in the "Velasquez Family Farm" gallery are all of high resolution so they are perfect for your computer desktop. Click on a thumbnail and wait patiently while the photo loads. When the full picture appears, right click with your mouse on the photo. You'll get a menu with an option to "Set as Background". Select that and you'll get to enjoy a view from the coffee farm every time you turn on your computer. Check back over the coming months as we hope to add even more photos as we have time.
