News from Honduras lately has not been good. Crime, drug trafficking and a string of high profile murders has dominated the headlines and people's conversations. While it's easy to focus on the bad (wherever you live), we try to take a more positive spin on the subject below. Also in line with keeping things positive, we have the pleasure of announcing our 2011 Holiday Flavors, available for purchase next week, as well as sharing several great gift buying opportunities and ideas.

Focus on the Positive
If you google Honduras for recent news, you'll find articles on corrupt police, cocaine transit routes, and growing gang violence. We also found a very thoughtful article, entitled "Feed the Better Wolf" by Marco Cáceres, editor of the English language Honduras Weekly. He argues, "For each act of anger, hatred and violence in Honduras, I would bet that there 10 or even 100 (or more) acts of compassion, civility, and cooperation. And I don't wager lightly. I hear and read about such acts every day." We agree and are happy to be participating in some of the good news coming out of Honduras.

 Announcing our 2011 Holiday Flavors
There was a lot of excitement around choosing our holiday flavors again this year. And so we won't wait any longer to let you know which flavors were chosen:

*Cocoa Mocha Twist - A blend of the taste of chocolate, cream, cinnamon, and nutmeg give this coffee its unique flavor.
*Old Fashion Holiday - Holiday cinnamon and cloves blended together reminding you of warm holidays baking goodies in the kitchen.
*Rum Royale Cappuccino - Warm cappuccino - frothy & thick with a healthy splash of rich buttery rum.
*Caramelized Pralines - Yummy rich taste with delicious caramel and fresh roasted pralines.

All of these coffees (and any of our six regular flavors) are available in 8 oz bags for $6.50 in whole bean or ground. Holiday flavors only are also available in decaf in limited quantities. Because it is hard for us to predict sales exactly, get your orders in quickly to ensure you get what you want. If you know what you'd like for December already, please tell us that before November 21 so we can include it in our next roasting order. (As always, 5 lb bags of any of our flavors are available by special request.)

  Coffee Gift Ideas
Coffee makes a great gift and we have several convenient options for you.

-Coffee Subscription Gift certificates. Give 6 or 12 months of coffee to a friend or loved one. We'll send you (or the gift recipient) a colorful gift certificate explaining the gift. Coffee will be delivered each month for free to people in our delivery route area, or we can also mail a coffee subscription for the added cost of postage. You can pick the type of coffee or let them pick.

-Coffee mailed for you. Make it easy on yourself and let us mail your coffee gifts for only the extra cost of postage. We mail nearly 40 packages of coffee each month anyway, so it is easy to do a few more. We can even include a note from you if you wish.

-Extra coffee with your November or December order. And of course, the easiest option is just to order extra coffee with your November or December order. It never hurts to have an extra bag or two on hand for guests or for unexpected gift needs. Coffee makes a great gift for teachers or to bring along for your hosts if you are traveling. Give it alone, or pair it with a set of coffee mugs or a coffee grinder, or include it in a gift basket with other goodies.

If you already know what your coffee gift needs will be, let us know before November 21 so that we make sure to order enough for you.
